Clare Burnett

About Clare Burnett

Clare Burnett is a British artist working between London and Berlin. A multidisciplinary artist, Burnett blends influences from her upbringing in France and Belgium with studies in Architecture and Social/Political Studies at Cambridge University and Fine Art at the Byam Shaw School of Art.  Her solo exhibitions include London's Unit One Gallery and Taiwan's Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum. As former President of the Royal Society of Sculptors, Clare's work remains a testament to her commitment to the art form's evolution and exploration.

Burnett’s practice challenges notions of space and colour, in order to translate contemporary issues such as looting and surveillance capitalism into abstract forms. Clare takes inspiration from her surroundings both visually and materially, using new and diverse materials. These sculptures are outcomes of Burnett’s working approach - namely creating pieces through play.
